NECA’s National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) define a minimum baseline of quality and workmanship for installing electrical products and systems and are designed to improve communication among architect, engineers, purchasers, and suppliers of electrical construction services. This program will discuss the newest NEIS, NECA 781, which covers quality and performance criteria and the best practices for lightning protection system design, installation, and maintenance for both new and existing structures.

    Mark Harger

    Mark S. Harger, Owner/President of Harger Lightning & Grounding is an industry expert with over 25 years’ experience in Lightning Protection and Grounding & Bonding. Mark chairs the following committees:

    • BICSI Grounding & Bonding committee that created NECA/BICSI 607-2011
    • Engineering Subcommittee TIA TR-42.16 which is responsible for rewriting ANSI-J-STD-607-B Commercial Building Grounding (Earthing) and Bonding Requirements for Telecomm

    Michael Johnston

    Michael Johnston is NECA’s executive director of standards and safety. Mike holds a BS in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He served on NEC CMP-5 in the 2002, 2005, and was the Chairman of CMP-5 representing NECA for the 2011 NEC cycle. Mike is currently the Chairman of the NEC Correlating Committee. Among his responsibilities for managing the codes, standards, and safety functions for NECA, Mike is secretary of the NECA Codes and Standards Committee.  Johnston is a member of the IBEW and is an active member of ANSI, IAEI, NFPA, ASSE, the NFPA Electrical Section, the UL Electrical Council, and National Safety Council.
