Up to now, LEDs have received all the press when it comes to lighting discussions, however, there is second member of the solid-state lighting family that is starting to attract attention. Organic Light Emitting Diodes, or OLEDs, are beginning to move from high priced novelty products to more mainstream illumination solutions. This program will introduce this lighting technology, including a comparison with LEDs, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages that OLEDs offer, as well as a discussion of what the future holds for this unique technology.

    Dr. Curran has spent over 25 years in the area of product development. With 28 patents issued, Dr. Curran has been responsible for a wide range of products.   Currently he is President of LED Transformations, LLC, a New Jersey based technology consulting company specializing in providing guidance to companies entering the solid-state lighting field. He is a member of the SPIE; IESNA; OSA and the ASA. He has given numerous talks to the lighting industry on the correct use of LED technology for general illumination applications both for his own company and on behalf of the US Department of Energy.
